Artist Statement

Andrea-75.jpg

As an artist I believe that technique is one of the most fundamental aspects in a dance. Using the full body as an entire instrument to produce movement is a main goal with each piece. I also have a strong passion in collaboration and community. There are so many people in this world and everyone brings forth their own experiences and styles, it is important to keep learning and working to keep growing. With these collaborations comes connections. Connecting with yourself and others cultivates a beautiful energy and experience that produces a brilliant piece of art. Movement dynamics create contrast and dimension to dances that I love to explore. I am always open to new concepts and experiences that will elevate me as a dancer and artist. I want to keep my choreography style growing and enhancing by using tools I learn from different artist I encounter in my life. I strive to find the bridge between the commercial and concert dance world.

Teaching Statement

As an educator, I strive to promote growth and positivity in my students. I felt very insecure growing up and I never want my students to feel that way. In class I focus on the fusion of technique and artistry. I specialize in teaching jazz and ballet. Building connections with young dancers and helping them find a love for dance is one of my favorite parts of teaching. I am open to teaching any age of dancer. I am a strong believer you are never too young or too old to start dancing.
